AKBÜK
Updated on : 21st May, 2017
Akbük is a fascinating beach, located on the 25 km west of Akyaka. Since, the route from Akyaka to Akbük is a narrow and winding road, it takes about 40 minutes to get there. Fortunately the beautiful view of the Gökova Gulf accompany you along the way. The other thing that doesn’t leave you alone is the local pancake and ayran sellers. You may run across about 20 of them until you get to Akbük. According to our taste, both pancakes and ayrans are mouth-pleasing. Their prices are quite reasonable too. As of May 2017, 1 pancake + 2 ayrans cost 10₺.
Akbük has a clean, clear, and turquoise coloured sea, which resembles the oceans in tropical regions at first sight. The high mountains on the north, and the small cape on the west hinder the winds and the waves, which makes the sea even calmer. The ground of the beach is covered with white pebbles, probably from which the beach has taken its name from. 'Akbük' means 'White Cove' in English. As an Akyaka cliche, a small stream flows from a backyard pond into the sea, and there are ducks roaming around. There are many wooden piers along the beach, which you can pike into the sea, but about half of the piers are used for mooring small fisherman’s boats. And on the west side of the beach there is one more ’T’ shaped bigger pier for yachts.
The entrance fee to Akbük is as follows. Motorbikes: 5₺, Automobiles: 20₺, Minibuses: 30₺, Midi-buses: 40₺, Buses: 60₺. Once you get in, car parking and using toilets, showers and changing cabins are free. There is a big parking lot at the entrance of the beach, and some cafes have their own small sized parking lots either. You can hire sun loungers and umbrellas in the beach. The average prices for one day use are; sun lounger: 10₺, umbrella + sun lounger: 15₺.
In the beach, there are a few boutique hotels and restaurants, numerous cafés, a small market, toilets, changing cabins, showers and sun loungers. In the backyard there are also a few lodgings, and on the west there are campsites. Caravanists and tent campers have always been among Akbük's regular attendants.
The negative issue about Akbük is the gravel road, passing just behind the sun loungers by the sea. We don’t know why this road has not been constructed at least 20 meters away the from the coast. The result is: when sunbathing in the paradise, you enforcedly take advantage of the noise and exhaust-gas of the cars, passing 1-2 meters behind you. Anyway, you would forget about all the negativity in the first moment you see the beach.
