COASTAL WALKWAY OF MARMARÄ°S

Updated on: 20th October, 2017

Although the coastal walkway is not on the forefront, it is one of the most precious places of Marmaris. The most common item on Marmaris videos on internet is the walkway itself. So what makes it special? Answer is: it's lively in all seasons, it's always clean, while walking on the trail you never loose eye contact with the sea (even the huge 5-star hotels on the seaside do not block your eye contact), it has a pretty nice sight, and it lasts continuously for 9 km... Yes, its name differs from Barbaros Str., Kordon Str., Atatürk Str., Uzunyalı, 207th Str. to Gezi Yolu Str.; however it's just an uninterrupted way continuing from from Netsel Marina until the Port of Ä°çmeler.

There are countless cafes, reastaurants, bars, hotels, apartments, parks, beaches, watersports centers etc. on the way. This makes it appealing to people of all ages and societies. The way is lively at all seasons thanks to wanderers and sportsmen. After the opening of blue bicycle lanes in May 2017, it is prohibited to ride bikes on the part of walkway beginning from the Marina to Turban Hotel. It was already difficult to bike among the crowd in high season.

One of the interesting sections of the walkway is the part that starts in front of Turban Hotel. It is paved with natural stones, and there are trees on both sides, sometimes even in the middle of the way. As walking through the trees, the sea winks at you. When you come to Icmeler you will be amazed by the view of mountain and the wonderful beaches.

After the harbor of Icmeler, there is an additional bonus way of 1-1.5 km. But it's not a walking path, rather an old tarmac. This road leads you to up to "Lovers' Hill", and eventually you see the sign "Private property do not enter!" and a fierce dog barking at you. There you can see a spectacular view of Marmaris Bay and Keçi (Goat) Island.

Bonus : “Fürth", a German town near Nürnberg, is the sister town of Marmaris since 1995. The name of Fürth is given to a square on walking trail at Çıldır Quarter.
