ÇİFTLİK BAY
Updated on : 25th September, 2017
According to us, Çiftlik is one of the most beautiful bays of Marmaris. You ask why? Let's explain ... the sea is so clean and clear that there is a sight distance of almost 20 meters. The entrance of the bay is very narrow and there is a small island (Çiftlik Island) in the middle of the entrance. The bay is surrounded by high hills covered with sparse pine and olive trees. It is a pleasure to swim in Çiftlik Bay, which is quite well sheltered against the winds and the waves. Most parts of the beach is sandy , while the strip along the sea is covered with colored pebbles. The sea is deepening with a linear gradient. The bottom of the sea is sandy and mossy, and some parts are rocky.
Behind the beach there is a housing estate, consisting of 30 two-storey white stone houses. The position and the settlement of these houses are agreeable with nature. However there's a huge hotel in the backyard likely saying says “I do not belong here”. Another annoying thing is the presence of too many vessels in the bay. There are 5 piers with a berthing capacity of 95 yachts at the same time. Additionally, Çiftlik Bay is one of the frequent spots of the daily boat tours. So you are not alone here.
On the shore, there are enough bars, cafes, restaurants, and pensions. There are also watersports and diving facilities. The bay is really active during daytime, but after 5 pm-when daytippers start leaving-a cloud of peace and tranquility spreads all over the bay.
It is possible to go to Çiftlik Bay with two different routes. If you are starting from Marmaris, you can drive through İçmeler, Osmaniye, and Bayır Village. Do not miss the “Çiftlik” direction sign in Bayır Village. Turn left from that sign, and drive 8 km more to arrive the bay. This road lasts for a total of 34 km (55 min). If you are starting from Bozburun, Selimiye or Söğüt, first drive to Bayır Village, then to the bay. The second route lasts 20 km from Selimiye, 28 km from Bozburun, and 22 km from Söğüt. Alternatively, you may choose the Bayır public mini-buses, which shuttle between Marmaris and Çiftlik Bay.
Bonus: The "Çiftlik Island", which is located at the entrance of the bay has an area of 90-hectare squares. And, this island belongs to Ali Ağaoğlu, a famous Turkish businessman.
