Updated on : 24th April, 2017
One kilometer ahead of the entrance gate of Ä°ncekum, stands the Boncuk Cove, being one of the beautiful coves of Gökova Gulf. It is always quiet and calm, and the sea is clean and clear, but wavy. The beach is covered with pebbles, and is under the shadow of the row of palm trees behind. This beach is preferred for swimming, but the main idea here is camping, both tents or caravans. The facility on the coast named 'Bonjuk Bay' also serves in this direction. Bonjuk Bay attracts attention with the design of its rooms and lotus shaped tents.
The area between Boncuk Bay and Karaburun is the only known and observable breeding site of sandbar sharks in the Mediterranean. Sandbar sharks can reach up to 2 meters in length. [reference] Since it is known that sharks are coming to the cove for mating and egg laying from May to June and in October, Boncuk Cove becomes a region of interest during that time. Experienced divers and enthusiastic amateur snorkellers come to Boncuk Cove to search for the sharks. It is possible to see them on lucky days. They are usually found along the rocks on the right side of the bay, 150-200 meters off the shore and underneath the rocks.

Bonus: Scuba diving is prohibited in the cove.
